Short answer

Where do King City Gardens plants come from?

Every King City Gardens product starts in its Mom Room, FOX19 reported on August 27, 2025: trimmings from mother plants are propagated into new plants. Co-founder Caveh Azadeh said the company began with a group of five business owners who brought in cannabis experts.

FOX19: mother plants, five founders and the first Ohio pre-rolls

FOX19 reporter Brady Williams began in the Mom Room, where King City Gardens keeps its mother plants. Trimmings from them are propagated into plants of their own, the station explained, and every product starts there.

On the record

“We feel very confident that not only is it going to get rolled out, it’s going to get rolled out the right way”

Caveh Azadeh, Co-founder, King City Gardens

Co-founder Caveh Azadeh said five business owners started the company and brought in cannabis experts. Recreational sales, he said, doubled sales and drew shoppers from Indiana and Kentucky.

Ohio had just approved pre-rolled joints, and the first sale came a week before the visit, though not from King City Gardens: Azadeh said its pre-rolls were in final testing, due out later that week. He expected pre-rolls to reach 15 to 20 percent of the market; FOX19 put Ohio cannabis sales at 2.5 billion dollars, more than 700 million of it recreational.
